What is an Altman Z score?
Our Altman Z Score calculator identifies which manufacturers are financially stable and which are at risk of bankruptcy. For stakeholders in solar projects, understanding the financial stability of the PV Modules, Inverters, and Energy Storage Systems manufacturers is crucial. Using PV components from financially stable manufacturers provides a stronger safeguard against the potential risks of a collapsing return on investment (ROI) for any PV project.

Why is the financial stability of solar panel manufacturers important?
Ultimately, the financial stability of a PV manufacturer directly impacts the validity and enforceability of their product warranties. While it's understood that many of today's Energy Storage and Inverter manufacturers may not be around in 25 years, it's crucial to ensure warranties are secure for the short to medium term.

Many PV projects are likely to encounter this challenging question over the years: Who should be contacted for performance complaints, solar panel efficiency issues, and replacement requests for malfunctioning battery energy storage systems or inverters after 2, 5, or even 10 years?

In these reports, we present the Altman Z Scores of over 40 energy storage manufacturers, 30 solar inverter manufacturers, and 70 PV module manufacturers. These reports allow you to compare manufacturers and serve as a crucial indicator when selecting your PV module, energy storage, or inverter manufacturer. The Altman Z Scores reveal which manufacturers are financially strong and which are at risk of bankruptcy within the next two years.

What is a good Altman Z score?

Altman Z score interpretation: A score below 1.1 falls into the Distress Zone, indicating a high likelihood of bankruptcy. Companies with scores above 2.6 are in the Safety Zone, suggesting they are financially stable and not likely to go bankrupt.

Note that companies that have been in the Grey Zone for years may be very stable!

It’s essential to spot the trend and see where a company is heading.
