Sinovoltaics launches virtual PV factory tour platform, opening global access to top-tier manufacturing sites
Switzerland, Lausanne, February 11, 2026 – Sinovoltaics has launched the solar industry’s first virtual PV factory tour platform, giving professionals worldwide direct access to leading manufacturing sites without the cost, emissions, or scheduling challenges of international travel. The initial tours feature Tongwei Solar’s 25 GW Yancheng facility, one of the largest PV production plants globally, as well as JA Solar’s manufacturing operations in Yangzhou Park. Both tours are now publicly available. The platform will also feature BESS manufacturing sites worldwide as it continues to grow.
“Factory tours should not be limited to those with the biggest pipelines, budgets or seniority,” said Arthur Claire, Director of Technology at Sinovoltaics. “By opening access virtually, we democratize knowledge, reduce ecological impact, and contribute to more transparent supply chains.”
Ahead of the launch, Sinovoltaics surveyed its client base and found that 80% of respondents had never visited a solar factory, while 89% expressed strong interest in doing so but were prevented by time and financial constraints. The company argues that this limited exposure reveals a broader knowledge gap in procurement and quality assurance practices across the PV industry. Demand for the new platform appeared quickly: more than 200 professionals from European cities joined the waiting list within the first two hours.
Sinovoltaics also emphasizes the platform’s sustainability impact. A round-trip flight from Europe to Shenzhen or Shanghai emits roughly 2.2 tonnes of CO₂ per traveler. Avoiding those flights for the first 200 registrants alone translates to an estimated 432 tonnes of emissions saved, illustrating how virtual access could substantially reduce the environmental footprint of supply-chain due diligence.
The tours offer detailed views inside production environments that are often inaccessible to visitors, including curing rooms, lamination processes, quality-control checkpoints, and areas where defects commonly arise. According to Sinovoltaics, these insights can help engineers and procurement teams make more informed module purchasing decisions by improving their understanding of production standards and potential risk factors.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Sinovoltaics in opening our Yancheng facility to a global audience,” said a Tongwei Solar representative. “Transparency and technical understanding are essential for the continued growth of the PV industry. By enabling virtual access to our manufacturing lines, we can showcase the scale, precision, and quality behind Tongwei’s production processes to professionals who might not otherwise have the opportunity to visit in person.”
“We see virtual factory access as an important step toward making manufacturing knowledge more accessible across the global PV industry,” said Aiqing Yang, President of JA Solar. “By opening our Yangzhou operations through this platform, we aim to support more rigorous procurement practices, deeper technical understanding, and a more transparent and resilient supply chain for the industry as a whole.”
