Sinovoltaics assists solar PV and BESS importers worldwide to ensure they source ethically manufactured components.
With the help of our traceability audits, and the implementation of the EMTC Protocol, you can be sure to purchase ethically manufactured equipment and be compliant to the latest legislative and ESG requirements in USA and EU.
Our track record
Sinovoltaics’ clients are developers of utility-scale PV & BESS projects around the world. In 2022 our clients have implemented full traceability with the help of our EMTC Protocol with a 100% success rate:
In 2022 Sinovoltaics performed Quality Assurance and Traceability Audits on ~6% of all solar modules exported to the USA and 100% of those shipments have been successfully cleared by USA Customs and Border Protection (CBP). References on request.
Did you know that out of 10.6GWp of solar module imports in 2022 into the USA, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency ultimately detained over 2GWp (18%)?
The same best practices have been implemented for clients in the EU and around the world.
What benefits do our Traceability Factory Audits offer?
By conducting a Traceability and/or ESG Audit, you can identify and address potential environmental, social, and governance risks in your supply chain. This can help you meet regulatory requirements from the upcoming European Supply Chain Due Diligence Act or the new German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (Lieferkettengesetz, LkSG), improve your brand reputation, drive additional investments by following the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), and participate to make the world a better place.
EMTC Protocol
The EMTC Protocol is a tried and tested protocol for the traceability and transparency of the PV and BESS supply chain.
The EMTC Protocol has been successfully implemented since 2021 and has a 100% success record as of today.
How does the EMTC protocol work?
The Protocol is structured as follows:
1. Evaluate your ESG risk exposure
a. ESG checklist designed according to the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact
b. Audit performed by SA8000 accredited auditors
c. Developed in accordance with the leading ESG frameworks, incl:
(1) Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)
(2) Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)
(3) UN Sustainable Developments Goals
(4) Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
(5) Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR)
(6) Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
2. Map your solar supply chain
a. Supply Chain Mapping (SCM) Audit done a few weeks before production
b. The provenance of the different components, including:
(1) Solar cells
(2) Wafers
(3) Ingots
(4) Metallurgic polysilicon
(5) Quartzite
c. Audit performed by IRCA-accredited auditors
3. Track your module manufacturing
a. Designed in accordance with the latest US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) guidelines
b. Batch Tracking Report by Sinovoltaics
c. Track and Trace all raw materials used in your PV modules: module, cell, wafer, ingot
d. For each layer of the supply chain, quantity, work order, and supplier information should be provided
4. Communicate your achievements
a. Sinovoltaics reports can be directly used as part of:
(1) US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) clearance process
(2) German Supply Chain Due Diligence (Lieferkettengesetz)
annual report
(3) Future European Union (EU) Supply Chain Due Diligence Reports
(4) Communications with clients and investors
