Why UVID Testing Matters
Solar modules spend decades outdoors, constantly exposed to sunlight. While this sounds obvious, the UV component of sunlight can quietly cause UV-Induced Degradation (UVID)—a subtle but serious issue that leads to power loss, weakened encapsulants, and premature failures.
Independent research has shown that UV exposure can significantly affect module performance, especially regarding N-type modules.

The Challenge Today
Currently, only a few testing standards exist for UVID. These vary in procedures and UV stress levels —making it difficult for Utilities, IPP and EPCs to understand the actual phenomenon they will experience.
This lack of harmonization creates uncertainty. Which results can you trust? How much UV degradation will impact your site performance after 5 years in the field?
Toward a New Standard
To address this gap, we hosted a webinar with Prof. Bram Hoex from UNSW, one of the leading experts working on the development of a new, more reliable UVID standard.
