What is the NF mark?

The NF mark is not a specifically solar products-related certification. It is a voluntary quality mark, owned by the French certification body AFNOR (Association Française de Normalisation), and is widely recognized certification guaranteeing quality and safety standards of any kinds of products, services, facilities and equipment certified.For companies exporting to France, the NF mark is a very important mark that is - according to surveys - recognized by over 85% of the French population.

NF marks: an overview

There are three different categories of NF marks addressing different areas. The general NF mark is used to certify the quality and safety of industrial and consumer products, the NF Environment mark is used for ecological products and the NF Service mark for services certified.

NF Mark

The voluntary NF mark certifies that an industrial or consumer product complies with quality criteria defined in French, European or international standards. In many cases the product must also satisfy further specific market requirements. NF Environment Mark

The NF Environnement mark is a voluntary certification mark issued by AFNOR Certification. Created in 1991, it is the official French ecological certification and is awarded to products that have a reduced effect on the environment while offering an equivalent performance.To be issued the NF Environment mark, the product must comply with several ecological criteria. NF Service Mark
